Interview: Robert Kirkman talks Season 2

We have a lot of questions about the second season of The Walking Dead. We know you do, too, so we jumped at the chance to speak to executive producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, and Glen Mazzara after a special screening of the second season premiere (yes, it was awesome. No, you aren't getting more details). Naturally, the subject of creator and executive producer Frank Darabont's sudden exit came up, a topic which made Mazzara defensive and on-edge. Which is understandable - Mazzara took over Darabont's showrunner duties. It wasn't all about Darabont, though. Read on to find out about season two gore, event episodes, and how the show exists side-by-side with the comics (yeah, it's mostly about Frank).

There seemed to be complaints among fans that the first season moved too slowly. In season two, are there more "event" episodes?

Robert Kirkman: It wasn't a conscious thing. I think season two is jam-packed - it's a bigger season. There is a lot going on. I don't know if I would necessarily agree with the season one criticism. We shoot a child at the start of every season.
